Happy New Year to all and best wish for 2010!
From December 11th- 13th, the RipTides Swim Club raced in Calgary at the Cascade Age Group Challenge. Over 500 swimmers competed, ready to swim their best. The RipTides Swim Club hit a storm of best times and brought back 23 medals and 9 club records. The Riptides had great placings in the following races:
Girls 11-12: 50 Fly 1st & 3rd, 50 Breast 2nd & 3rd and 100 Fly 1st & 2nd.
Boys 13 & Over: 50 Back 1st & 2nd and 100 Back 2nd & 3rd.
Congratulations to the Novice swimmers for improving their best times in all their events: Logan Gooch, Camryn Gooch, Ryan Gooch, Jasmine Latulippe and Nicolas Latulippe. Camryn dropped the most time, improving by a total of 32 seconds.
Nick Anderson-Young earned a new B time in the 200 Free and swam 100% best times!
Emily Cuell swam two new B times in 400 Free & 200 Back.
Simon Cuell won four medals: Gold in 50 Back and 400 IM, Silver in 800 Free and Bronze 100 Back. Also, Simon earned two new club records in 800 Free 9:57.01 and 400 IM 5:22.84 in addition to three new B times in 50 Breast, 100 Back and 100 Free.
Brea Peterson brought back five medals: Silver in 50 Back & 100 Fly, Bronze in 50 Fly, 50 Breast & 100 Back. Brea also achieved a club record in 50 Back 36.52 and eight new A times in eight of the ten events she raced!
Jason Evans brought home nine medals, medalling in each event he swam: Gold in 50, 100 & 200 Fly, 50 Free, 1500 Free, 200 IM and Silver in 50, 100 Back & 200 Free. Jason broke four club records in 1500 Free 19:13.74, 50 Fly 29.01, 200 Fly 2:39.96, 200IM 2:24.09 and achieved one more A time in 50 Free.
Julian Dinh earned three new B times in 50 Breast, 200 Free & 100 Free with a nice drop of two seconds for a time of 1:01.07.
Though everyone competed exceptionally well, the performance of the weekend goes to Emma Dinh for qualifying for the 2009 Speedo Provincial championships, March 4-7 in Edmonton. She swam 100% best times and won three Gold in 50 & 100 Fly & 100 Breast, Silver in 50 Breast and Bronze in 200 Fly. She also smashed two club records in 50 Breast 41.50 and 100 Breast 1:29.52 (former record holder was Alex Pasemko 1:33.95). |
