High school students who successfully completed the high school credit courses through Career and Technologies Studies (CMH 2050 and 3050), or take the free, online Level 1 orientation course while in high school are eligible to receive a $2,500 scholarship. Students must attend an Early Learning and Child Care certificate, diploma or degree program and sign a service commitment agreeing to work in a licensed or approved child care program for one year. The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation grants Loran Awards to talented young Canadians on the basis of character, service and leadership potential. A Loran Award includes four years of funding for undergraduate studies and a comprehensive enrichment program. Important Dates.
A program administered by the Edmonton Community Foundation, Dollars for Learners includes a number of scholarships, bursaries and awards for students demonstrating financial need and community involvement. Although academic standing is not the primary factor in the selections process for most awards, maintaining strong grades will enhance a student’s application. For most awards, an applicant’s chosen program of study must lead to a recognized degree, applied degree, diploma, certificate or license at a qualified technical institute, college or university. In some cases, awards may be granted for academic upgrading, apprenticeship or trades training programs that lead to gainful employment or further post-secondary programs. Scholarship Search Going to University or College isn’t cheap. But it doesn’t have to be Mac ‘n’ Cheese for four years straight. There is financial assistance in the form of scholarships and bursaries. Select a province from the list below, then the school you are interested in, and the number of scholarships offered by that college or university will be listed. Awards range from hundreds to thousands of dollars, and are offered for a range of subjects, so you’re sure to find something that applies to you.
Millennium Scholarships If you make a difference in the world around you, apply for a millennium excellence award - an award designed for people like you. The deadline to apply for a 2008 entrance award is DECEMBER 14th, 2007. You can find more information by navigating the menu at the top of the page.
New U of C Admission Scholarships If you are a new student beginning your first year at the U of C, you could be eligible for bursaries or scholarships including some major U of C awards! Last year, the University of Calgary disbursed over $3.2 million in awards to new students. New students entering the U of C directly from high school are automatically considered for the following awards; no application is required.
Entrance Awards for students entering the U of A from high school. This includes students who may have taken time off after high school without attending another post-secondary institution. In addition to applying for Academic Excellence on-line, applicants must send a transcript of any final Grade 11 and/or Grade 12 marks before March 15, 2008. Note: this competition is based on the student's final marks at the time of application. The Scholastic Distinction Scholarships are among the most valuable and prestigious undergraduate scholarships awarded by the University of Alberta. Approximately 70 scholarships from $7,500 to $50,000 are available annually. Deadline: March 1, 2008

University of Lethbridge Grade 11 Merit Awards Grade 11 Merit Award Value: $800 Approximately 100 scholarships will be granted to the highest achieving Grade 11 students who are attending an Alberta High School. Separate scholarship application required by June 30.

Honouring Young Women for Volunteer Action
Top 20 Under 20T is a national youth awards program presented by Youth in Motion and sponsored by ING Canada, ING Foundation and Bell Canada. It honours young Canadians who have demonstrated a significant level of achievement, innovation and leadership but have not yet reached the age of 20. Academics play a minor role in the selection for these awards.
