AISI Project: Inspiring Hearts and Minds |

The AISI (Alberta Initiative for School Improvement) Project for CRPS for 2009-2012 is focused on assessment for and of learning. Each school has designated teachers who will be working with their colleagues as we continue to learn about and implement sound assessment practices. These Assessment Residents are:

In addition to these teachers, CRPS has 4 Assessment Specialists working with the Alberta Assessment Consortium who will also be working with colleagues. These teachers are Ronda Krasnodemski (LGMS), Marilyn Reid (LGMS), Bronwyn Richards (BES) and Sandra Becker (ERS).
The outcomes for the project by year are as follows:
Year 1 Outcomes
- By June 2010, the CRPS Assessment Team (administrators and residents) will increase their understanding of assessment for and of learning.
- By June 2010, the CRPS Assessment Team will increase their understanding of facilitation and collaboration skills.
- By June 2010, all teaching staff will increase their knowledge and understanding of assessment for and of learning through differentiated professional learning opportunities.
- By June 2010, 100% of schools will implement the school-based assessment outcome, focusing on assessment for and of learning, as identified in their school’s Three Year Ed Plan.
- During 2009 – 2010 school year, parents will continue to be informed of the changes to classroom assessment practices through various means.
Year 2 Outcomes
- By June 2011, all teaching staff will share a common language of assessment of and for learning.
- By June 2010, 100% of schools will implement the team-based assessment outcome, focusing on assessment for and of learning.
- By June 2011, all teaching staff will implement the assessment strategy reflective of sound assessment practices as identified in their TPGP.
- During the 2010 – 2011 school year, parents will continue to be informed of the changes to classroom assessment practices through various means.
Year 3 Outcomes
- By June 2012, students will participate in their own assessment through setting and using criteria, self-assessment and/or goal setting.
- By June 2012, all teaching staff will implement at least one assessment tool that reflects the principles of sound assessment practices that has been collaboratively developed with division colleagues.
- During the 2011 – 2012 school year, parents will be continue to be informed of the changes to classroom assessment practices through various means.
